Privacy

What it uses

• Location: to find places near you. If your browser won't share it, the site guesses your city from your network.
• Your answers and things you skip: sent to the AI to pick dishes.
• Google account (only if you sign in): account ID, name, photo and email.
• Your profile (signed in): nickname, photo, gender and things you skip.
• Saved dishes (signed in): the dish and place, plus the answers you gave at the time.
• Feedback: the tags you pick and what you write. No contact details.
• Usage records: for each request, the time, whether it worked, and which visitor or account made it. Used to stop abuse and keep costs down. Your answers aren't recorded.

Where it's kept

In your browser: history, your cat, settings, a local copy of saved dishes, and cached nearby places (with a rough location) so the app opens faster. These stay on your device.

In the cloud (Tencent CloudBase): your account profile and saved dishes once you sign in, feedback, and usage records. Your location is not stored in the cloud.

Who gets it

• Map services (Google Maps, Amap or Tencent Maps) get your location and return nearby places.
• The AI service (a DeepSeek model, reached through a third-party API service) gets your answers, the things you skip and the list of places. No location, account or IP address.
• Google provides the sign-in button, which loads even if you don't sign in.
• Tencent Cloud runs the backend; every visitor gets an anonymous session.
• Cloudflare hosts the site and counts visits. No ad trackers.

Nothing is sold.

Stopping abuse

Visitors who aren't signed in have a daily limit per IP address. The counter stores a short code worked out from your IP, not the IP itself.

Deleting your data

In your browser: signing out clears your sign-in and profile. Saved dishes, history and the rest stay until you clear this site's data in your browser settings.

In the cloud: email hello@mealow.app with the Google email you signed in with, and I'll delete your profile, saved dishes and feedback.
