How does the lunch wheel work?
Press Spin and whatever lands under the pointer is lunch. Shuffle puts eight different ideas on the wheel from a list of 36 lunches. Edit the wheel lets you type your own options, one per line, so you can spin between the places near your office instead.
The list is the food people actually eat in the middle of a workday: deli sandwiches, soup and salad combos, noodle soups, rice bowls, a slice of pizza, plus packed options like a bento box or last night's leftovers. A list you type yourself is saved in this browser, so your office wheel is still there tomorrow. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Make it your office wheel
Type in the places within walking distance of work, or the counters in your building. Every spin then lands somewhere you can actually get to before your break ends.
Settle the team lunch
Put everyone's suggestion on the wheel and let one spin decide.
Plan the packed lunches
Tap Packed and spin for the lunches you'll make the night before.
Why spin a wheel for lunch?
Lunch gets decided in a hurry, often between two meetings, so the choice usually goes to whatever is closest. A spin makes the call for you, and you still keep a veto. If the wheel lands on something and you feel let down, you've learned what you wanted, so go and get that.
It also helps with the group question. Three coworkers each saying "I don't mind" can burn half a lunch break. Put the options on the wheel, agree that the spin stands, and walk.
What lunches are on the wheel?
Thirty-six midday staples: a turkey club, an Italian sub, a Reuben, a Cuban sandwich, banh mi, a falafel pita, soup and half a sandwich, chili in a bread bowl, a chef salad, miso ramen, udon, a shawarma bowl, salmon poke, chicken katsu curry, a bento box and more.
A few slices are lunch habits rather than dishes: "Last night's leftovers" and a "Cheese and crackers snack box" for the days you bring something from home. If a lunch on the list isn't sold anywhere near you, press Edit the wheel and swap it for one that is. The wheel takes 2 to 16 options.
Can I spin only sandwiches or only quick lunches?
Yes. Tap a quick list above the buttons. Sandwiches fills the wheel with deli and street sandwiches. Soup & salad and Bowls do the same for those. Quick keeps it to things you can grab and eat fast, Packed to lunches you can bring from home, and Treat to the bigger lunches. Tap a list again for a new mix.
How do I plan a week of lunches with the wheel?
Tick "Remove the winner after each spin", tap Packed, then spin five times. Each spin gives a different lunch because the last winner leaves the wheel, so you get Monday to Friday with no repeats.
A few tips that make the plan easier to stick to:
- Put the lunches that keep well in the fridge, like lentil soup or cold sesame noodles, later in the week.
- Leave one day for buying lunch out, so the week has something to look forward to.
- Copy share link and send it to whoever you eat with, so they see the same options.
What if I'd rather pick a real place nearby?
Then let Today's Mealow pick. It asks six questions, from the cuisine you want to what you don't eat, then picks three dishes from real restaurants near you, each with a one-line reason. Choose Lunch as the meal. It's free in your browser.
